# 🌟 Fairy 2.0 Installation Guide

Welcome to **Fairy 2.0**, a custom private server for **Final Fantasy XI**.

This guide will walk you step by step through the game installation, the setup of the official Fairy 2.0 Launcher, and the automatic update system.

---

## 🎮 1. Installing Final Fantasy XI / PlayOnline

To play on Fairy 2.0, you need to have the **Final Fantasy XI / PlayOnline Viewer** client installed on your PC.

If you do not have the game installed yet, you can download the official client for free using the button at the bottom of this page.

### 📥 Official client download

On the official download page, the Windows client is divided into **5 separate parts**.

⚠️ **Important:** you must download **all 5 files** into the **same folder**, without renaming them and without moving them separately.

The files to download are:

* `FFXIFullSetup_EU.part1.exe`
* `FFXIFullSetup_EU.part2.rar`
* `FFXIFullSetup_EU.part3.rar`
* `FFXIFullSetup_EU.part4.rar`
* `FFXIFullSetup_EU.part5.rar`

After downloading all parts, run:

`FFXIFullSetup_EU.part1.exe`

This will automatically extract the files required for the installation.

Once the extraction is complete, a folder called:

`FFXIFullSetup_EU`

will be created.

Open this folder and run:

`FFXISetup.exe`

During the installation, select:

* PlayOnline Viewer
* Final Fantasy XI
* any additional components required by the installer

### 📌 Important recommendation

During the installation, **do not change the default directories suggested by the installer**, unless you have a specific reason to do so.

Keeping the standard installation paths helps the Fairy 2.0 Launcher manage checks, updates, and compatibility more easily.

✅ If Final Fantasy XI is already installed correctly on your PC, you can skip this step.

## 🧚 2. Downloading the Fairy 2.0 Launcher

After installing Final Fantasy XI, download the **official Fairy 2.0 Launcher** using the button at the bottom of this page.

Once the download is complete, extract the folder to a simple location, for example:

`C:\Fairy2.0\`

Then run:

`Launcher Fairy 2.0.exe`

The launcher will be your main access point to the server.

From the launcher, you can:

* check the server status;
* create a new account;
* log in;
* configure graphics settings;
* manage addons and plugins;
* update the required files;
* launch the game.

---

## 🔄 3. Automatic updates

The **Fairy 2.0 Launcher** automatically checks the status of the files required to play.

The system checks:

* server online/offline status;
* launcher version;
* bootloader version;
* Final Fantasy XI client version;
* compatibility with the recommended Fairy 2.0 version.

If an update is available, the following button will appear:

`UPDATE`

Press the button and wait for the process to complete.

The launcher will automatically download, verify, and install the required files.

✅ You no longer need to manually copy folders, overwrite files, or edit complicated configurations.

---

## 🛠️ 4. Client version

The launcher shows both your local Final Fantasy XI client version and the recommended version for Fairy 2.0.

For the best compatibility, it is recommended to use the version indicated by the launcher.

Using a different version may cause:

* graphical bugs;
* client crashes;
* sudden freezes;
* menu issues;
* incompatibility with some DAT files;
* text or windows displaying incorrectly;
* unusual in-game behavior.

If you also play on the official server, your client may be newer than the version recommended for Fairy 2.0.
In that case, the launcher will help you understand whether your installation is compatible with Fairy 2.0.

---

## 🛡️ 5. Antivirus and exclusions

Some antivirus software, such as Windows Defender, Bitdefender, or other security programs, may block the launcher or bootloader because they use a custom startup system.

If the launcher or the game:

* does not start;
* closes immediately after clicking;
* is blocked by the antivirus;
* shows errors during startup;

add the entire Fairy 2.0 folder to your antivirus exclusions.

Example:

`C:\Fairy2.0\`

⚠️ It is important to exclude **the entire folder**, not only the single `.exe` file.

After adding the exclusion, restart the launcher.

---

## 👤 6. Login and registration

When the server is online and all updates are complete, the **Login** and **Register** buttons will become available.

From the launcher, you can:

* create a new account;
* log in;
* save your credentials if you wish;
* change graphics settings;
* manage addons and plugins;
* start the game.

If the server is offline or an update is required, the launcher may temporarily disable Login and Register until all checks are complete.

---

## ❓ 7. Common issues

### 🚫 The launcher does not start

Check that your antivirus has not blocked or quarantined the launcher.

Add the entire Fairy 2.0 folder to your antivirus exclusions and try again.

---

### 🎮 The game does not start after login

Check that:

* the server is online;
* there are no pending updates;
* the Final Fantasy XI client is installed correctly;
* the launcher is located in a simple folder, for example `C:\Fairy2.0\`.

---

### 🔒 The Login button is disabled

The Login button is enabled only when:

* the server is online;
* the launcher is updated;
* the bootloader is updated;
* the client is compatible.

If the `UPDATE` button appears, press it first and complete the update.

---
